I guess after two years, it could be said that my cousins and I have a little tradition of them coming up for New Year’s.

First night this year was much better than last year. First, it was a LOT warmer. Also, we had better judgement as far as what to choose to see and not see, although we missed our favorite show from last year, a three man bluegrass group.

Afterwards, we tidied up my room a little bit (good to start the year with a clean room) and then chilled out drinking san pellegrino.

A new sweater vest. I am in love with it. It’s mens, from Sid Vintage, and it is SO soft.

I feel like I have really come into my own over the year. I’m much more confident in my clothes and my choices and even my fuckups. I’m happier and nicer. Of course, I am also not totally sure where I’m headed next or what I want, but at least I’m enjoying figuring (or not figuring) it out.

are wonderful. At the J. Crew Outlet, I tried on four things, three of which were men’s. Guess which one piece fit the worst? The women’s Tshirt, that’s a roger. Then I went berserk at Brooks Brothers. I smelled every single cologne they sold.

Those cords are a new color of the ones I am totally in love with and because they were mad cheap, $12 at the outlet plus the christmas sales, I bought three more pairs which adds up to five pairs of the same pants in Navy, Purple, Black, Cement, and Brown. The cardigan is J. Crew men’s. And the earrings…oooh the earrings…

under $20. I love sales. And that would be my new second piercing. I’ve had it for a few weeks now.

I’m very glad to have put together an Urban Outfitter worthy outfit with better quality and ultimately for lower prices. At J. Crew.

the strap is a leather band with a chain sewn onto it–more comfortable than the plain chains.

Now if I can just figure out how exactly to get it to do that on purpose…

I haven’t been as active on here as I would like. My life has been a little bit lacking in sanity, particularly this week. The show I was in which was postponed due to THE SWINE was rescheduled to this week (our last show is on Saturday), I have auditions for the next show, I had about 5 days to get interviews and write my first article for the school newspaper, and this term I took on a new academic class–Eastern Philosophy.  I am SO looking forward to continuing with it.  We’ve been doing a lot of introductory stuff the past few days, but have been reading Zen and the Art of Archery.  Wonderful book.  The closest you can get to understanding that sort of thing if you can’t actually learn it yourself is to sort of ride on the shoulder of somebody who is learning it, or did learn it.

Soon, I hope to get up photos of my costumes for the play (What I Did Last Summer-A.R. Gurney) and some photos of me before the Semi-Formal dance which is on Saturday.

In the spirit of the season, I have put snow on my page, as well.  Play around with it, waste some time during study hall.  Good stuff.

I am also completely obsessed with All Things Renoir And Cassatt at the moment.  So I switched my header from Renoir to Mary Cassatt.  Also good stuff.

The weekend before thanksgiving there was a big CTY reunion at MIT Splash. I didn’t go to many classes, but it was absolutely gorgeous. Plus, my boyfriend came up to visit from FL which was very nice.

Here is a closeup on the boots. I am totally in love with them. I wore them one too many times this week, I think. They are so comfortable with boots, fit easily around my calves, look good with tights or with my beloved skinny cords tucked in. I haven’t tried them under pants yet, but why would I ever want to? You can technically change the height of the flap, but I tried it and it sticks out too much–looks a little Pirate-y. At least I’m prepped for next Halloween!

And my new haircut. It isn’t too different–just layered so that it grow out well and looks good doing it. The front bang-ish things were shortened which looks a lot better–brings my face upward. And I can still do my little half up to the side thing (with the help of one or two bobby pins) which is awesome.

I found an ear cuff, the day after lusting after one! And I tried on those boots and they look awesome and I just have to wait for them to go on sale. And I found an awesomely retro looking really really really soft scarf for ten bucks.

And THIS! I want stickers like that. A lot.

Ear cuff:
Similar to the way that henna allows me to have a certain look when you want, an removable non-piercing ear cuff can provide a certain look but be totally removable. I saw a woman working at TJ Maxx wearing this one and I loved it:

She said her friends got it for her so that she would always have a man on her.
